NINJA WHAT!!

NINJA WHAT!!

Posted by ChrisCarlson on 4/14/2005
my second stemless penetration. ninja/perriwinkle/portland grey. i was trying to use spanish moss but i'm color blind and grabbed the wrong one. first time doing tube encase instead of rod too. screen press sections for the mouth, bottom (water window), and bowl. i wish the stem layed back a little, i was too busy thinking about gettin through the donut. 2" dichro marb with cbs rainbow 2, cbs blue, and accucolor gypsy. i love the donut cuz it blocks the water, i'm always scared of these otherwise. thanks for lookin. chris

howdy, i'm chris and i've been blowin glass since spring 01'. got to start the real adventure three years in, makin other than production. i love clean lines and lots of contrast. art deco and graffiti are probably my biggest influences. it been a blast, and it keeps getting better all the time. most of my nicer stuff is at the sandbox here in southern cali. i plan on doing this till the day i die. buck fush. i love you all. i hope you enjoy. i always welcome any advice or pointers or questions. also, none of the glass displayed here is for sale. thanks for looking, chris.

PROPS and major influence - Tommy Chong for opening the door to this amazing medium and lifestyle.jeremiah G cleaned me up and taught me the basics, Arturo Ulloa taught me all the tricks and keeps SoCAl real., jefe Mcwild helped me look at it from another angle, Jamie made it possible for me to explore and gave me the space and tools to do it. Now i'm in Oregon and have to give love to Marcel, J.Lee, and Dale for welcoming me into one the sickest studios on the planet. and to Shad and the SOul Fired crew, kickin down mad knowledge and good times...

ninja
thanks fred! the ninja is like super turbo cobalt. if you want your piece to look green in the light, use onyx. i think a piece of onyx was mixed in with my batch. the ninja is sweet, cuts like butter, but if you dont want your piece to look a little blue, dont use it.chris

diggin the flow
hey la.. i like the flow of the piece, i like the cyclic feel/scorpion feel of the external stem and all. i haven't done a "stemless" yet.. and.. i have to say i like what you've done with it more than the typical "up along the can" approach.
sucks sucks.. don't sweat him =)
main thing i don't like is the joint between the clear attachment in the middle of the stem... kinda messes with the flow.

keep at it.. only your second? glad you got rid of the double bend on the "stem" from the prototype.
