apollo 420/solar system/the planets

apollo 420/solar system/the planets

This piece is a legend around omaha for some odd reason, as you can see its not the fattest or best looking, but for its use, it functions about as well as a nuclear warhead. It was made all by hand( no lathe, just two rods) and weighs in at... 1452 grams!!! Its a monster, it was a custom piece that broke over and over and over again,(100 days late) but kept being reassembled planet by planet until this came out. It is obviously the sun and the following consecutive 9 planets. fritwork, reversal action, a little retticello, some crazy fume and heat work, and some surface encasement, and apollo 420 was dawned.

Its 13" long 5" wide and is basically a giant dry spoon.

I dig the color scheme on this one for some reason, good contrasts. The marble on the side came out real clean looking, i was suprised to think it could be done, but its a vortex marble, that was pulled out into a fat ribbon, its tight.

and for the so inclined, it might be available........ you tell me

this wacky piece, is primarily... i think.. unobtanium, thanks satori. but its fat and definitely a piece for the head.. the stem was made here in omaha, and it has some mystery adventurine in it, and a little old school vortex marb... theres a ton of dichro, huge blingers, an opal, and some wiggy reversals.

These pieces all reside in Omaha, Nebraska (yeah! we have lampworkin too), in my and others collection, we have some crazy pieces, and even though some/most of the pieces were not made with my influence behind it, I think they deserve to be seen in a proper manner by the masses. Sorry if the showing of these glass pieces offends anyone on this website, but if it does.. then think, "what am i doing on this website".

special thanks to geostrophic, chad, anne, nick t, joel, mr. gray, scotty, drew and oregon, the whole state.

and sorry for some smudges here and there... i try
