Banjo, Mouse, Shad, Chaz, Drew, Jared Sandifer, and Tristan came together down in Arcata, California to create a collaborative sculptural pipe of epic proportions. These guys blew my mind with this piece, and Kris Gardner was there with me to capture it on film. Special thanx to Mouse for the place to stay, Banjo for the warm hospitality, the whole crew in the shop, Tony, Rich, Cody, Annie, Matty, Jared Delong, Dan Benway, and Robert Mickelson and all the other Arcata folk for making us feel at home.

well i got a burst of inspiration and decided to step outside the comfort zone.... it all started when a young pipemaker from quebec city stopped by my shop last friday, his skill and excitement made me feel like i had to step it up, thanx galen, he made a few windows on this piece..... the idea for the weird lil triple seal chamber on the bottom comes directly from Steve Hops and Ease, and i have to give Fro and Shad props for inspiration as well..... with this piece i was kinda just freestyling and didnt really have too much of a plan while building it, lots of stuff ill do different next time, the one major flaw is that it wasnt til i was done with the piece that i realized i wish i had reversed the way i sealed on the triple seal chamber, if it was sealed the opposite way then the piece would perc how i intended.... the way it works now is more like a force perc, its weird actually, if you blow into the mouthpiece it makes the lil bottom chamber gurgle like a reg bub....

FYC?!SLINGER collabo>>>#5 FYCfycFYCfycF... put alot of time into designing the adobe artwork and im very happy with how clean i was able to blast the piece. I recently spent some time with the TORO/FYC crew in their laboratory, and i want to give a special big ups to JP for being not only an amazing glass artist, but incredibly skilled on the lathe. I really developed a whole new appreciation for his tubes being in the shop while he put them together. Also big ups to WAK for everything she does behind the scenes and all the generous hospitality.

This piece is the third and final installment in a collaboration series between Slinger, Bearclaw, Dosher, Eli, and Ease. It was started in the summer of 2006 in Seattle. Cut and Flip sections by Dosher. Cobalt/Yellow/Green/White reversals by Eli. Blow out sections by Slinger and Claw. Dichro reversals by Ease. Fillacello disc by Bearclaw. Anti-Marbles by Slinger. The can was shaped by Ease. The Stem was shaped by Slinger and Claw. I picked up the piece in Seattle this summer and brought it back to Philly in two pieces and put it together. I did the main seal, the downstem seal, sit, carb, anti-mibs and sandblasting. I blasted 5 skulls around the rim of the bowl to symbolize the five souls that came together on this. Big ups to Hops and Snic for assistance on some manuevers, it's big!!

I made this piece for my homie PROB, local philly artist who lives in my hood. I took photos of his paintings, sketchbook, and himself, and montaged them in photoshop into a piece that is a remixed portrait of the artist and his work, mimicking his wild drippy street style. Lot's of symbolism and detail in there, we were both really happy with the final piece. Props to the FYC crew for superior craftsmanship!

the second one was an experiment which i kept for myself. I sandblasted and painted on some copper suspended in resin. Interesting stuff, it is actually copper, but the resin didnt seem to ever dry 100%, and its rubbing off now. I bought a varnish but havent tried it yet. I also pretty much f-d up the shape of the stem and the cane in the blaster so im just gonna keep experimenting with this piece. anyway....

i used 46x4.8 tubing to make this. the main can was made out of 1ft of 46x4.8. main can stands @ 10 inches. moutpiece is 12.5inches off the ground. base of main can is 3.5inches. 12mm downstems. all downstems diffused.(standard) 18mm ground glass joint.

"Missy Aggravation, some sacred questions, you stroke my locks...."
Music is my favorite medium and the Pixies are one of my all time favorite bands. Since their break-up in 1992, i literally dreamed of the surreal shows i was lucky enough to catch in the early nineties. When they announced 12 years later in 2004 they were reuniting, i freaked out! I went on ebay and bought tickets to their first scheduled performance in Winnipeg Manitoba with no plans other than i had to be there. To make a long story short, i ended up on a solo mission in the middle of Canada to see the Pixies, and after that show, i had to go to the next one, and the next one, and well, i sorta "toured" with them, and ended up seeing them 15 times in 2004. While i was on "Pixies Tour" i met two other dudes that were as obsessed as i was, maybe even more obsessed. We ended up traveling together and enjoying some of the best times of my life, and one of them commissioned me to make them a pixies tribute piece. Well about 3 years later, I FINALLY got it done... enjoy Johnny,

Jason Lee. Marbleslinger. Sherlock Tribute collaboration series. Was too good of an idea to make just one, so Jason and i agreed on a limited series of five pieces, here is #2,3,4, and 5. I made the prep work and Jason shaped the pieces. I designed and sandblasted the images. Im really happy with how these came out, very clean. Jason is a true guru of the sherlock shape, i thank him once again for adding his magic. Thanx to my shopmate Hops for hooking up his new blaster, it works like butter....

#1 in a series based on images from American currency. The idea behind this series is to explore the connotations of images within U.S. money and their discourse on religion, politics, economics and society. This series is meant to ask questions and stimulate conversation.
This particular piece is exploring the relationship between "church" and "state". Are these entities separate or co-existent? What is the relationship of economics and "god"? Which "god" do "we trust in"?
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
ONE dollar or ONE "Creator"?

"dont call it a comeback, i've been here for years."
ive been cutting and painting stencils for a couple years, doing lil street art pieces, i always liked working from photographs, particularly film stills. I look for stills that have alot of emotion and drama, something that tells a whole story with one expression. I made a stencil of this Sofia Loren photo in 2005 and made a few stickers and painted it here and there in Vancouver BC. You can see that painting stencils led me right into doing the sandblast imagery that ive been concentrating on in my glass heavily for the past year; It was a smooth transition. I really enjoy bringing the photographic desgin elements into my glasswork. These pieces celebrate this transition in my work, from film and photography to street to glass... thanx for looking, sling.

Jason Lee and Marbleslinger. no 1 of 8 made in august 2002 in Burlington, VT.
Jason did the green wig wag and i filled in the center window. We each kept one marble out of the series and this one is in my personal collection. Been meaning to take some photos of it forever. Each mib had a matching wig wag window and then different elements added to that. These were really fun to make, and i've been meaning to expand on this idea since then.
Mad props to the GURU Mr Jason LEE, one of my biggest personal influences to challenge myself in this medium. Never ending thanx Jason, i might have given this glass thing up along time ago if it wasnt for your positive energy and friendship.

i made this hammer bubbler in the fall of 2001 in Seattle, WA. I gave it to a very good friend, and last time i visited her i snapped some pics on her windowsill. It is made of 6 disc flips and coil pots of NS Yellow. Big ups to my ol' homie, Pedro Smiley for putting me on the disc flip vibe back in the day. Man i wish i had a digi cam back in the 90's and early 2g's to capture all the work me and my friends were making....big ups to everyone ive ever shared a shop with, yall are my family.

Well this piece is almost a year in the making. I created the stencil in March of 2006. In July i was kicking it with Jason Lee and presented the concept to him. Being the sherlock master that he is, i was honored for him to agree to make the piece. But it was only partly done until i got it sent to me out on the east coast last week and finally, it's a wrap. Jason made the piece and I did the prep for the black violet tubing sections and did the blasting and design.
