Hello my name is Jesse and I work in Vancouver B.C., Canada. I got excited about glass on my many trips the the states for music and travel. In late 96 I convinced my friend Dave to come up and teach me some basics. From there I started my long road to being the lampworker I am today.

They call me the breeze, I keep blowin' down the road...
I ve been listening to a bunch of J.J. Cale lately. I really like how these wrapped blow ins come out. Hammer Double bub with amazon night, warm yellow, mystery adventurine and silver seaweed.

The only man amongst them wore an elaborately ornamented exoskeleton: a baroque support structure of struts, hinged plates, cables and servo-mechanisms. His face was a skull papered with deathly white skin, shading to black under his bladelike cheekbones. His eyes were concealed behind goggles, his hair a spray of stiff black dreadlocks. Periodically he inhaled from a glass pipe, connected to a miniature refinery of bubbling apparatus placed before him on the table. I was outside my building trying to get some better pics of the fuming on this piece when one of my neighbors came by. I was telling him I like to think sci fi shit when I m dreaming up pieces and he lent me a book by Alastair Reynolds. Thats where I got the above quote.

Well the winter seasons coming to an end for the 07/08 season. Time for the work season to start. I did pretty good this winter and got 62 days up the hill this season. Had a really good snow this year locally and theres probably 6-7 meters of snow still on top of my local hill. Still gotta get some hiking in.
Made this piece in late nov. 07 while wishing for snow. Jet Black, star white, silver fume and some silver dichroic.
Thanks for looking and thanks to all for posting their work, inspiration from everywhere.

I was in Mexico for the day of the dead in 2001 and saw some really cool altars and art. It is a celebration with emphasis on celebrating and honoring the lives of the deceased, and celebrating the continuation of life; the belief is not that death is the end, but rather the beginning of a new stage in life. On the altar you place the persons favorite foods, drinks and other vices for them to enjoy.
This piece is a collaboration by myself and Bryan aka Surf Rat. I also got my friend Bonnie to draw the skulls and flowers.
Thanks to Kris Gardener for the photos.

This is a recent matching set I finished. Hammer bubbler, dry piece and a jar. Each piece has a hand faceted crystal and all grinds are finished with a cerium polish.
The dry piece should have some old school color changing on the front fumed crystal.
All pieces are made with Amazon Jewel, Amazon night, and gold & silver fume.

This piece was fun to make. Its another ring seal bub made with frit. I was in a weird mood so I made the reversal sections and honeycomb marble with frit as well. The canes are the only parts that have amber purple color rods used and it has a great feel and weight in the hand..
I like the form of this bub it looks like some sort of alien cruiser or something!

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Here are a couple of faceted dry pieces from last month. They both have fumed windows and give some cool old skool flavor.
Thanks for looking!

Well I m not sure of the species but this thing crawled out of my brain and into existince last week. I ve been playing with shaping and function using ring (or triple) seals for the bowl.
The piece is dark multi, multi and silver fume.
Last week was a trying one. Felt like I was fighting the current, unforeseen bills, figured it would be fun to pass 3 fingers thru the flame, the main can cracking and had to be remade, traffic jams, and some other stuff of course! But hey who cares as long as your having fun on the torch!! Oh and I had to put up a skate pic cause of fun pics I saw last week.

This is my first piece using a graal section made at Mickelsens class from last month. I m really excited about this process and can t wait to explore it further. The samarai figure and the wind wheel lead me to the asian theme of the piece. The stem represents a temple(pagoda) and I felt the little bonsai tree finished it off.
I want to thank RAM for teaching a great class and a big thanks to slinger for keeping me inspired.

Your Piece
Just picked up a bubbler a few weeks back, that was blown by you, and I am enjoying the thing thoroughly. I will take some pics of it and send them to you, because I would like to know if you named her when you were working on her. Also, I know this is an off the wall question, but do you know of anyone in the community in Houston, TX. I used to work in a glass studio in New Orleans when I was young, and I really want to get back into it again. Keep up the amazing work.

Just picked up a bubbler from New Amsterdam Cafe the other day and had it broke on the skytrain ride home. Hippo took the broke one back and replaced it with no questions. A beautiful piece I am very happy to have. Much appreciation to Hippo and the guys at New Amsterdam.
