#1 in a series based on images from American currency. The idea behind this series is to explore the connotations of images within U.S. money and their discourse on religion, politics, economics and society. This series is meant to ask questions and stimulate conversation.

This particular piece is exploring the relationship between "church" and "state". Are these entities separate or co-existent? What is the relationship of economics and "god"? Which "god" do "we trust in"?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

ONE dollar or ONE "Creator"?

    		 i was hoping someone would ask "why on a pipe?"
    Slinger: well micah, the honest reason its a pipe is that pipes sell. My brother tells me "art doesnt sell, and pipes do..." SO, its a pipe. Simply because i have to eat. But if im forced to rationalize it being a pipe further, the content of the piece involves money, and well, pipe equals a paycheck, so in that sense, it kinda makes sense, but its a stretch. So yea, its a pipe so that i could get paid. I have plans for this theme and series to transcend the form of a pipe, but for now, he we go...

    Peppa A.k.a.- ME: I got two day jobs in order to support my art glass habit. I just recently came out of retirement to make some headdies to get some cash for some new equipment. Cash is a great reason to make it a pipe, props to puttin a little something extra into it.

    Adam Sultan: ok, i have thinking about money, lately. I think money is a tool of satan. let me explain why. The system of money came about as a means to make sure that trades were equal. example: you try to buy a horse, but all you have is 2 wagon wheels.

    my point? its that humans are so greedy that the ideas of "sharing" and "giving" are passed off as "bad buisness"(unless its a promotion to make more money). Our money system promotes greediness, dishonesty, and also separates people by their "class". which is based entirely on money, and not an individual's ability to love, give, or teach.

    This school of thought has become so prevalent among humanity that we often tend to "look down upon" those who have no money.

    So which one god do we trust? in my opinion, its satan.
