    grit
Slinger: yes actually, my friends' blaster had different blasting medium than i usually use, i think it was just sand, not sure how coarse, but it defintely has a grittier texture, i usually use aluminum oxide...

Smiley: silicon carbide is the way to go...:)
it has a very sharp crystalline grain to it that that stays sharp(self sharpening). Most other media tends to wear down because the little grains get "tumbled" basically and as the "sand" gets rounded it doesn't abrade the surface as well.
Its a little pricey $$$ but it lasts forever...!
Aluminum oxide is the next best thing(or better for some)-And is much cheaper & doesn't ware out your nozzles so quickly....
J.A.G.'s got 150 Grit Sand in his machine if my memory still works.
Sand is really cheap but most folks agree that sand should not be used at all anymore. Its the most toxic fine dust of the bunch and will cause silicosis.
    :)mmmmnnn silicosis....
