2010 Feels good already, I got a lot of plans for this year.... If only I had two more pairs of arms I could possibly get to them all.

2009

2009

2009 Was a special year for me. Started working glass full time rather than on the side as a dream, but finally a reality starting to take form.

Huge thanks to Salt, Micah Evans, and Matt Eskuche for sharing their knowledge at AGI which made a real impact on my work. The experience was amazing and those three in particular really changed my perspective on glass each in their own individual ways.

Also, I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who competed at the pipe classic where I learned a lot and was able to gather a ton of info and tips from everyone. Respect to you all, thanks for making this community so unreal.

And Eric from NY living in VT, can't thank you enough either.

    styles dicro
W: styles dicro spoons look like outside wrap work overtop of glass evolutions pre sleeved dicro tube, (it's expensive but sweet stuff to work!). I could be wrong but that would be an easy way to get the same effect.

    Comb
Stratisphere Glassworks: Thanks for checkin my stuff out. Getting your combs tight is like anything else, pactice. That one was made by dumping a bunch of frits down a blowtube into a thin pre blown bubble then shrinkin the bubble melt the frits in and blow out again. Then dot with 6mil and doing a tight pattern helps. Take your time melting it all down and shaping, to get the colours to pop I let it cool a bit then reheat to a nice glow a couple of times. Hope that helps!

Jake C: hey man...thanks for the comments...that ratti disc on the green piece isn't cane though, its just individual lines laid down. i've tried it with cane, but it didn't really look as good, the color on the borders doesn't lay down flat sometimes. peace

    sleeving
Aymie McKesson: I am selling them for $20...they are not big/not small. They take me about 15 minutes. I use no more than 3 inches 25mm color and 32 medium clear (about $2.50 in glass). I put the color on handles but sleeve right off the tube of clear to save time. I am pretty slow. Mine are cheaper than those in town but mine are ALL selling like crazy. I am used to making $30-40 for pipe production so these are making me very happy. Feel free to email me. butterflybobs(at)gmail

  • Salt
    Amazon Night # 70 frit
Salt: is the answer to the question. the finish or glazed look is from the torches atmoshere (O2/propane ratio) and the length of time the piece spends in that flame. Thanks for the intrest and sick work. I love the fumed and sleeved technique. Allways different allways ccol. Piece

  • Salt
    Duhh!
Salt: I forgot to say that it was a reductive atmosphere or more propane than O2.

  • Natey
    heyo
Natey: thanks for the nice comment sir, practice makes perfect. the secret to the tight curls is to prep your piece really well. make sure your tapered shape is very even before you start bending. as for the webbing just pull a stringer to about 2 or 3 mil and be carefull when applying your webs, i use the mini torch to melt them into the nice shape. hope this helps man, kinda hard to explain on the computer, much love

  • Sweeney
    ----
Sweeney: the effect was made by a combination of coilpoting black- then wrapping gold and silver fume- and twisting backward- I hope that makes scene- it was an experiment not always easy to duplicate- if your ever in Portland- hit me up and I will show you how its done-
