Chapter 1 : The Plunge

Chapter 1 : The Plunge

Chapter one: The plunge
I guess to start I should really start at the beginning. The thing is this is one of those times the beginning is up for debate, so instead starting at the see I should tell you about the stream that lead me to it. I was still in school taking a couple of art classes and a philosophy class to finish. Philosophy took me by surprise it really opened my mind and made me think. So much so it started to seep into life, and into my art. As the nature of my thoughts changed so did my work, and the concept behind it. One day I was in Philosophy class and in a flash I was filled with a new understanding. I had been contemplating creativity and where it really comes from when it occurred to me that creativity is like a stream. We are not inventing ideas when we create but instead pulling from the stream of possibilities and bringing something to light. In other words anyone can fish in the stream, some are born to. To the non artist this act seems impossible, and they might say, “Oh I could never do that”, or “How do you come up with this sort of thing.” I remember thinking about putting my hands into the stream and letting the ideas splash up onto me. I imagined putting my hands and arms further into the stream to pull out the really big ideas. Class finished and I snapped back to reality. I must have spoken to the professor for twenty minutes after class about my epiphany. Her response left me with a great sense of satisfaction and truth. I felt I had found a map to tapping into my creativity, a way to go straight to the stream and to fresh ideas. Just when I thought I had the mother load it occurred to me what if I jumped in all the way, and where does the stream go?

Chapter 1: The Plunge continued

Chapter 1: The Plunge continued

I had been in the see for what I thought was two days, but I got a real sense that time didn’t really work the same or at all in the see, so I really don’t know how long it had been. This part of the see was actually kind of boring. When I finally got the nerve up to dive in head first in to the stream I had been immediately inundated with a barrage of visual information. The ideas appeared out of nothingness kaleidoscoping and melting into one another and then exploding into the raw materials of the next idea. The rate at which this cycle was taking place began to increase as I moved deeper and further through the stream until its intensity was almost too much, blinding me with my eyes closed. Finally I started to feel the borders of the stream widen, faster and faster, wider and wider, until I felt I might lose control, and then poof. The sides of the stream were gone so was my fear and I new that what was before me was the see.

Chapter 1: The conclusion

Chapter 1: The conclusion

The stream and the beginning of the see were filled almost over crowded, but as I got deeper and deeper the population of these “creatures” started to thin until finally I got to where I was now a dark and sparse area. I had at first been very relieved, had I stayed in such an intense part of the see I fear it may have resulted in insanity. I had taken the time to clear my thoughts and reflect with my eyes closed. As I opened them I realized that there were creatures here after all. I had been unable to see them at first but upon opening my eyes I noticed three creatures right next to me. Each one was completely different from the next and very strange. It hastily took some pictures before they moved on. It was not going to matter what happened now I was going deeper.

Hi I'm Salt. I love what I do. I am very excited to be a part of this site and thus the "scene." Everyone has been very enthusiastic and welcoming since I posted. Thanks I wasnt sure what you guys,(and gals), would think. I would like to give respect to those who have inspired me and through the work they have developed helped me see what is possible.

I frst saw the work of one Scott Deppe in a California shop in 2001. I was 6 months behind the torch. I was only a few inches away from work that, well you just have to see it.
Two years later I met Scott at a gas confrence in Seatle. He had these Dragon spoons. If you've never seen one then I'm sorry. Scott's work helped me to realize what is possible and that there are no rules, just ideas, and thermodynamics.

This list could go on for a long time. It includes artists from many mediums, I know its lame but I have missspelled some names Im sure, I'll try to fix them asap. Loren Stump, William Morris, Ricky Swallow, Dondi, Milton Townsend, Picaso, Kozic, Robert Mickleson, Jared Delong, Alex Gray, Aesop Rock, Harold W. Cooney, Clinton, Bearclaw, MURS, DJ Shadow, Shepard Farley, Bansky, Sage Frances, Jason Lee, Marcel, and most recently, Smiley, JAG, Mr Gray, Banjo, and Im going to add more latter, right now I need sleep.

and for certain ideas, large fish swim at the bottom, one must dig deep... may i suggest you-tubing David Lynch for his 1 minute soliloquy on ideas.
