The Project

this thing is weird. all clear and fume, except the back of the marble(Midnight) on the can. i'm not sure i like the overall shape of it, but it was an experiment..... lots of the pieces were complete experimentation with profile tubing. i had no idea what they'd look like, and just kept playing 'till the piece was shaped, then looked at the patterns. there are bizarre designs i couldn't get pics of, and some i did, but that are very hard to see.... the pics near the bottom are with the piece filled with coffee(and corks) to help the faint colors show up... zoom in, if you like... there's more stuff going on than is obvious. enjoy.
redeeming factor... hehe
here it is filled with coffee... heh... so.... through all the over-fuming, and wierd shape, i think it looks pretty cool standing up... which it does.... and partly-colored, as per the coffee-filling, it looks like it's gonna change fairly nicely.

can
this can's a little large for a dry piece, but too small to be a bub.... maybe someone likes huge lunger hauls...? more weird net-like patterns.

you can see what's going on a bit better... the coffee could have been a bit blacker, but that was the last of it.

gold mandala
i guess this is a variation of a retticello. it is pictured in the 'playing with profile' section in various stages of completion. there are better pics in there, as there was no other patterns in the way when those pics were taken. you'll see what i mean

marble and can
weird net-like pattern on the bottom of the can, and a marble that was fun to make.... totally random, but only profile tubing, also. there is a tiny bit of inside-out work in the can, in those clear-ish sections.

donut, slightly twisted, with penetration. the donut is doudle-layered, with spirals one way on the inside, and the other way between layers of clear. slightly hard to see.

stem
weird stuff going on in the section on the right. if you zoom in, it looks like a view of cells under a microscope or something. mid section is 'ratti design 3' from 'playing with profile' page.

The Project
i called it that because i really didn't know how this piece was going to come together.... as individual pieces, or as a whole. i dont make many multi-sectioned pieces.

playing with profile

playing with profile

these are pics taken some time ago, before 'The Project' was even considered. they have been up here for a while. i didn't end up using 'ratti design 2' on it, but 1 and 3 are in there. design 1 ended up being the 'gold mandala', though the color burnt out a bit, and 3 is the cross-hatched stem section.

thanks to everyone who posts and browses this site, it has been a great source of information, inspiration, and connection.

mmmmmmm
I think after we talked a couple of days ago we're close enough to critiec each others work without hurting feelings or any of that supid shit. anyway with that said, I truely like the original vision of this piece more than anything else...You already pointed out all the flaws that I would of mentioned, which is cool. (I'm my own worst critic too, I know exactley what your feeling when you try to comment on your own piece and to the untrained ear it sounds like your just shitting on your piece when in reality your just not affard to say the truth (even about your own work) I respect that..You know I love your work, but this piece seems to me, curved out of proportion...I cant find right words, sections seem to be in proportion with each other it's the reflection of not knowing or not being ahead of Final vison. make sense? a piece to this magnatude is a lot like playing pool for money...you need to know where the next three shots are going to sink before even lineing up cue ball to first shot, if your going to get paid!. I dont know, it's late, I might be being out of line and to critical, and should shut up...sounds like a plan...see ya later dan...peace
