First Off thank you to everyone who helped us along the way!!! Big ups to Abe from Northstar for the tube and rod!! Another shout out to Glasscraft and Blade for the clear!!! This project was built with the respect of artr and mechanics. Z brought up the idea of a comic style starship. With in a few hours of our first meeting we came up with a theme that would fit all of our styles and even bring some new techs to life. The display took 138 hours including planning and retrieving supplies. Art Mind Collective (Hillary, Big Frank, Cope, Apprentice Larry and Johan) threw in with help on working out the kinks in the display design and with driving multiple contestants gear across states including displays. Thanks to everyone, with out you all I'm lost.

The theme is a story line of a movie. The evil guys are the Zeta Reticuli and are hunting the Mirtar. We wanted to create a complete installation to bring our viewers into another world. We set up a black tent and hung chains to keep onlookers far enough back. Dancing lights and a nebula projection moved through the room while “The Collectors” soundtrack played in the background. We used a dimmer to show the work properly.

The stand was made of air dry clay and was painted by my apprentice Hillary. Johan said we should absolutely run some LEDs to match the landscape which we capped with transparent covers so it shimmered with changing light. Some smoking tubes and crystals and we have a planet surface.

Worm worked hard with Z to get down the approach on the bubs. The beast was a group effort and went smooth!!!!

Mad thanks goes out to my boy Ignite from Ignite Inc. who made the original drawings and made possible the t-shirts, and movie posters.

All the pieces made at the show were beyond nice!! Congrats to all!!!!

Installation includes:

Two bubbs: one 23 inches and the other 19 1nches
Mirtar: 15 1nches

Room lighting, Sand pit stand, Volcanic tubes, LED's, "The Collectors" movie style poster, Large T-shirt print poster, "The Collectors" T-shirt, Original movie style poster drawing and "The Collectors" drawing for T-shirt by Ignite from Ignite Inc., and some crystals.

My name is Merc. Ive been on the torch since 1999. I love glass and our culture. I chose American art pipe as my medium because of it's many options of expression and techniques. For hundreds of years people have embraced pipes in many different cultures and have regarded them as sacred objects used in ceremonies or for everyday use of tobacco, but still valued by their owner no less. I create pieces with hopes that the viewer is brought to a different perception of a pipe rather than function alone. Threw piping I have found victories, failure, friends, pain, joy, travels, and my identity. Nothing has ever held my attention as much as silica. Some of the greatest artists to ever exist have come from this community, so to say it's wrong or to declare it criminal is a blow to everyone who understands what this planet is minus any of the forms of art!!!

I've remained hidden over the years but recently decided to share my collected works to the public. I'm slowly putting pieces up both recent and past and have been enjoying interacting with all of you. Allot has changed since I started including the way I was taught. Through perseverance and some help from a few friends{ Whodanish, Salt, Dankstar,Crite,Robone..ect} and lots of inspiration, I feel that I have achieved an understanding of boro. I'm thankful for glass as well the workers of it. To all who view pipers please understand the risks and sacrifices it takes to pursue our dreams. Know the history of this craft if your just getting started and it will take you to great destinations!!! Thankx to all who support and a special thankx to my wife and children as well as my friends Salt, Freeek, Cowboy and Beth, Revin Evolution and Hill.Without them I would have lost the dream along time ago! I'm inspired by all of you as well as everything. Peace Merc
