"Stone Man"
(
Bishop33
)
"-The Stone Man- represents an opening from the physical world to the archetypal or spiritual world and therefore in itself in a certain sense a manifistation of visionary language. The Stone Man himself- with his upraised arms, with his listening ears, with his heart line, with his nakedness- is premordial man, man transmuted, man open to the visionary world. He is made of rocks, the fundament of creation, its coagulated substance; and yet he is also visionary reality, not at all merely a physical monument but an entry point into the imaginal or spirit world"
from the book Sacred Earth:The Spiritual Landscape of Native America
While visiting a buddy in Tahoe I had a chance to take some photos of this piece. One of the first in the archetype series.
Thanks!

This is a quick sherlock that I made yesterday... done in the unmistakeable Fro/Shad style which I thought was interesting.... I've always been such a fan of very traditional sherlocks... so this was a real departure from my usual sherlock technique... had lots of fun with it... I also threw in a really techy pull apart that I have never seen anywhere else.... over all it feels very elegant and classy in your hand yet it is pretty simple..... Enjoy!

A sikie dry Pipe for a rad painting~~~:~) I made it with the Initials he writes.("SH") Christopher said his painting reminded him of me! And the Pipe i made for him reminded me of Chris...:) Amazingly both pieces had some striking similarities! Neither of us were allowed to see our works till they were finished! We were very happy about the trade!
The pipe had The same fire combo as the stemless i just posted. Other colors included: Amazon Lagoon, Black violet, peacock and Unobtanium for the horns. Thanks for checking um out....:) Peace~~~Eush

A classy little sherlock.... I love the flow that is created by the striped horns.... it helps to balance out the heat of all that yellow..... I'm finding lately that there is an inherant elegance in simplicity.....

Jason Lee. Marbleslinger. Sherlock Tribute collaboration series. Was too good of an idea to make just one, so Jason and i agreed on a limited series of five pieces, here is #2,3,4, and 5. I made the prep work and Jason shaped the pieces. I designed and sandblasted the images. Im really happy with how these came out, very clean. Jason is a true guru of the sherlock shape, i thank him once again for adding his magic. Thanx to my shopmate Hops for hooking up his new blaster, it works like butter....

2007 is dead
(
DanP
)
This is the last piece of 2007 made on New Year’s Eve. In the summer of ’07 a good friend of mine died from a heart attack. He was a shop owner from a small town in the south west corner of Michigan on the lake. When I first started blowing glass in ‘03 my girlfriend suggested I take some stuff down to him. She grew up there and was friends with his daughter who also died in ’07 a month before him by suicide. Ever since we met he had my back on the glass tip. If all other sources were tapped out and I needed loot, he would always buy what I had even if he didn’t need it. This guy was old school about pipes. I literally never saw him without a pipe in his mouth or in his hand. He had more traditional wooden and carved pipes than glass pipes. This piece here is a glass version of that traditional style of pipe with the black stem and flattened mouth piece. Three other people close to me and my family died in 2007 so it seemed fit to end the year with an image of Death himself.

Baphomet
(
DanP
)
This piece features a 19th century image of Baphomet, created by Eliphas Lévi. The arms bear the Latin words SOLVE (dissolve) and COAGULA (congeal).
There also is a self portrait of Aleister Crowley.
"The devil is this serpent, Satan. He is life and love. He is light, and his zodiacal image is Capricornus, the 'leaping goat,' 'the god head '" - Aleister Crowley

Death-goddess
(
DanP
)
Tantric Death-goddess Kali Ma,
Indian, 17th century.
In many areas woman really did cannibalize the dead, with the benevolent purpose of becoming pregnant with their spirits and so giving them another birth. Even when cannibalism was replaced by symbolic imitations, such as rituals of sacrifice and communion, the Death-goddess was still represented by corpse eating creatures like vultures, crows, dogs, and swine.

*Dragon Breath*
(

This is another run with some table scraps. The mouthpiece is from the very first batch of blue tube and the horned mane is about six months old. I built this piece totally backwards. Right when I was about to finish it,Hamm set one of my scrappy pendants on my torch. I found it rather ironic that it totally matched the piece, and feel that it brought the piece together. Thanks for looking.
