...if 8 was 11...March 2006
(
AJ
)
id like to keep this one...
if i wasnt so fond of eating...
the intricacies of boro patterns is what originally drew me to the medium. the first reversals, then on to the bitch windows, double inlays,and my current favorite the 9way(...if 6 was 9).
all of those patterns ive bit from others(no duh), and im sure this one is not the first but in my feeble attempt to give back, or atleast try to offer something others may bite...
i offer up the quadruple bowtie(...if 8 was 11). rather time consuming, at 2 hours for one section, and 15 handles later...but there it is. it needs to be more clean proportionally, but im way stoked on its effect, the 11way.
true thanks to Shad, and Fro for opening the minds eye...
im trying to not bite so hard, and find my own way in this world, but the patterns you have popularized are just so much fun to do!
this is a pretty beefy piece at 3/4 of a pound, and the coloros used where, chinex green tube. tube pull was, portland, obtaniun, onyx, evergreen, forrest, olive, acid

Mystic Lake peace Pipe

This killer design was done by local MN blower Chris Ahalt. Chris rarely makes paraphenelia, as he is an expert at Wine Glasses. Every pattern is from ancient dakota/sioux artwork, and the buffalo is also a dakota symbol. Pretty intense piece. mad props to chris for this custom order. Gotta thank all you ballers(FRO, E.Ross, Clinton, Banjo, Smiley, Chris, J LEE) for the direction the glass is going! Smiley especially was an inspiration on this

Sandblasted Ultra-thick, large sherlock pipe.
(
JosephCorcoran
)
I had this piece in my kiln in pre-marble state, and I backed into my fire extinguisher, which some idiot had pulled the pin out of. The thing went off and sprayed baking soda, and whatever else onto my hot glass. When I went to attach the marbles the baking soda left scum all over the nice 1/2 thick, inside-out work. This forced me into sandblasting it, which saved the piece, and covered the scum. I have had many postive reactions to the look of the sandblasting, as you can see the inside out work through it. This piece has twenty 1/2" - 1 1/2" "galaxy", and "firework" marbles of various styles and colors. It also weighs nearly 800 grams and is almost 1" thick at the bottom of the can.

I love this piece!!! One of my favorite dry pieces that I've ever made... The color scheme, the mouthpiece pattern, and the rediculous pull-apart in the body of the can are so ill! I peeled my own wig back with this one... love that feeling! The colapsed opal marble came out sweet, and the opal marble tripod (one clear, one white, one black) was an added bonus to help balance it out. 23 sections over all...

This is a rediculous dry piece that I made for an old friend that I grew up with who now lives in the great state of Vermont! He stressed his appreciation for intricate details so I really tweaked out on it for him... the color scheme is very electric to me... like it's plugged into a socket! Super smooth opal implosion marble and lots of techy patterns to stimulate the mind of a fellow psychadelic warrior... It also has a matching jar with a large basket weave, and a oneie (not pictured) that is similar to the mouthpiece pattern... I love making pieces for my old school brothers and this one was very special to me! I hope you enjoy it...

Pretty cool for a small dry piece though. Let me know what ya think. Thanks. Oh, thanks to Kevin for expanding my music collection. Hookin it up with tons of new CDs. Thanks man.

i dont think this piece would of existed in my brain had it not been for Mr. Gray and his "dangles", or Fro and Shad for their shaping skills, all three have inspired me greatly...this piece has about 20 sections, is part of the unobtanium craze w/ alchemy chartreuse and azul as well. oh and i weighed it since i guess people want to know and its 350 grams, or just over 3/4's of a pound, pretty heavy for a little dry guy...the marble is 1 1/4" or so and was made by master steve bates himself, thanks buddy....anyway, thanks alot for looking and inspiring...

This is a quick sherlock that I made yesterday... done in the unmistakeable Fro/Shad style which I thought was interesting.... I've always been such a fan of very traditional sherlocks... so this was a real departure from my usual sherlock technique... had lots of fun with it... I also threw in a really techy pull apart that I have never seen anywhere else.... over all it feels very elegant and classy in your hand yet it is pretty simple..... Enjoy!

~4:20 Peace Pipe~
(

This here is a collab w/my shopmate mark....traditional style-this piece was inspired by an Endagered Species (Extinct really) called "Indians"or Native Americans......This was made for my friends new Club opening on 4/20...the feathers are from a hawk ,there's a sea shell and ceramic bead w/ leaf on the leather strap-feathers are tied w/hemp twine and bees wax-it's about 18" long X 8" tall....i figured i'd wait for all the other 4/20 posters to calm down a bit....and i guess i was a little lazy too.....so ,thanks for looking!
