banjo/ mike luna lesson/collab

(LisasPieces)
a week before the trade show at my most hectic time in my shop banjo decided to do a lesson/ collab with mike luna, at my place. I was so excited to have them both come at the same time. I knew I would be very busy but any knowledge I could soak up would be well worth the extra work. So here r a few shots off my cell for u all to see. oh by the way this piece was made without a pyrometer cause my cress analogue one took a shit, and this is the piece banjo apparently kicked across the floor at the show to prove how sturdy it was, I guess.
banjo, luna, adam, n I guess myself were a bunch of savages that week on our torches it was awesome, I love u guys thanks for everything

Spring Fever

(Slinger)
Nice weather, BBQ and Budweisers in the backyard baby.... Hops was saying, yo, its spring time, time for some fume pieces, i couldnt help join in the fun and it spawned our first collabo... i think we both agreed this was an ideal marriage of function and art, a double bubbler, first chamber inline gadget, the second can has a six slit cut diffussor and a glass on glass 14mm pull.... most peeps like clear pieces so they can see the smoke, this piece involves all sorts of inside out fume work so you get the best of both worlds, lots of artwork but you can still peep the smoke....we had fun making this... HOLLA!

Jason Lee. Marbleslinger. Sherlock Tribute collaboration series. Was too good of an idea to make just one, so Jason and i agreed on a limited series of five pieces, here is #2,3,4, and 5. I made the prep work and Jason shaped the pieces. I designed and sandblasted the images. Im really happy with how these came out, very clean. Jason is a true guru of the sherlock shape, i thank him once again for adding his magic. Thanx to my shopmate Hops for hooking up his new blaster, it works like butter....

That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore.

Jason Lee. Marbleslinger. collaboration stemless bubbler. April 2007. I made the coloured tubing, Jason shaped and constructed the piece. I designed and sandblasted the images. Jason has a funny sense of humour which comes out in his work and titles of his pieces, so i embraced his style of play on words for the theme of this piece. Jason Lee versus Jason Lee. The reversal patterns are Jason Lee the glassblower. The portraits are of Jason Lee the actor/skateboarder. So yea, its a joke taken a little too far, Jason is gonna be surprised, he has no idea, you like Leebo?? muahahahaha...

Freeek/E. Ross (Mid-Coast Collab)

(E.Ross)
Freeek and I made this piece last week. It was a complete 50/50 collaboration, as you can probably tell.

It's got a bunch of wild Freeek stlye design, with my more conservative shaping.

It was nice getting to work with someone else for a change.

Freeek,

Your the man! Thanks for coming to the Twin Cities to work with me. We will definitely have to try another sometime. Maybe a double, (lol) flawless execution.

Jason Lee LESSON/collaboration * Featured Page *

Jason Lee LESSON/collaboration

(E.Ross)
This piece is the result of a week long class with pipe making genius Jason Lee. I would recommend taking one of his classes to anyone serious about high-end glass. He was very open about everything he did. Besides just demonstrating, he explained the steps in great detail and in a practical manner.

I was able to contribute a few sections and a millie. Jason calls it a collab, even though I spent most of my time watching him work.

Overall, it was definitely a highlight of my glassblowing career so far. The class opened my eyes to so many new techniques, strategies, design, and ways of making the pieces more functional. Thanks so much Jason!

This lesson/collaboration would not have been possible without Freedom 35. You guys rock. THANK YOU!!

SAVE FREEEK!!!!! CALL FOR ARMS!!!

(CortexFlex)
hello brothers and sisters of the flame. i am saddened to inform you that FREEEK is in need of our help.

about two weeks ago, out of the blue he became very ill. he began constantly vomiting and has since been unable to keep food down. he has lost a great deal of weight and now weighs about 140....and stands at 6'2". he is also suffering from constant pain.

since then he spent a week in the hospital where doctors administered a great number of tests, but unfortunately they have yet to determine what is causing this.

the only solution the doctors have come up with is to keep FREEEK heavily medicated on narcotic drugs to help him escape the pain.

FREEEK is not only a glass master, but he is a great husband, father and for this he is huge role model in my life. he wakes up every morning at around 6am, when he does the dishes before getting onto the torch at 9am like it's clock work. he always rages until 5 when he prepares dinner for his wife and two young children. he truly is one in a million and has made a positive ripple in the pond of life, doing nothing but improving the quality of life for those around him.

so, i am pleading for help. i need help brainstorming some way to raise funds to help offset FREEEK'S medical expenses because he is currently UNINSURED, and all of us here know how that condition affects the quality of care one recieves. i am especially concerned because of daniel trilli's fate and the fact that even though numerous costly tests have been performed, FREEEK CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE A CADMIUM POSIONING TEST TO DETERMINE HEAVY METAL POISONING. This is FUCKED UP.

so please, keep FREEEK in your hearts and thoughts. i know that there is enough love in the pool of collectives to help turn this around....TODAY
... you have any ideas at all to raise funds, or would like to donate a piece, please get ahold of mye at rgutierrez@wisc.e... NEED TO GET TOGETHER TO SAVE FREEEK

SO LET'S DO IT
