The fertility doll which originates from Ghana but can be found in many other African countries in western Africa, is given to a tribal woman who is wanting to become pregnant. The doll is carried by the wishful woman and is cared for as if it were an actual baby while she is waiting for conception to occur. The women carries the doll and treats it like a real child, dressing it up, adorning it with jewelry and putting it to bed. Once birth is achieved the doll will be handed down to the child who will receive the fertility doll as a toy which in turns teaches the child how to cares for a young baby.

My version of the doll is amercanized but i thought it would be fun to make and give it a twist.

Wanted to say what uo to everyone one i met in vegas .

banjo/ mike luna lesson/collab

(LisasPieces)
a week before the trade show at my most hectic time in my shop banjo decided to do a lesson/ collab with mike luna, at my place. I was so excited to have them both come at the same time. I knew I would be very busy but any knowledge I could soak up would be well worth the extra work. So here r a few shots off my cell for u all to see. oh by the way this piece was made without a pyrometer cause my cress analogue one took a shit, and this is the piece banjo apparently kicked across the floor at the show to prove how sturdy it was, I guess.
banjo, luna, adam, n I guess myself were a bunch of savages that week on our torches it was awesome, I love u guys thanks for everything

These are some pictures of a custom peace pipe I made last week. It has a bunch a graal sections and faceted ends.

Hopefully this is the first of many. I spent about five days working on it. Graal can be time consuming!

The piece is just over 2 feet long, and the magnifier jars are very big. One of them is faceted.

Thanks Freedom 35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R.I.P. Daniel Trilli - Much Love & Respect

(AntonB)
I am so saddened to inform you all that may have had the privilege to know or to see some of the amazing glass produced by Daniel Trilli, that he has passed on and is no longer with us on this planet earth. Over the past year I have struggled emotionally and cried many times watching my best friend suffer from Bi-polar disorder and loose his ability to be the artist he was and even a person at times. In the last 4-5 months his medication had been effective and he had started to make some beautiful art marbles again. On Friday (4/13) he ventured into what would be his last headie piece, a 15 section all inside gold and silver dots dry horny thing, but this piece would prove to be fatal. Knowing better but suffering from some mental errors caused by the disorder Daniel worked about 15 hours with NO VENTALATION because of the cold weather, leading to severe metal poising and for several days suffered from vomiting and dehydration. On Monday night his mom brought him to an emergency room in a small

Freeek/E. Ross (Mid-Coast Collab)

(E.Ross)
Freeek and I made this piece last week. It was a complete 50/50 collaboration, as you can probably tell.

It's got a bunch of wild Freeek stlye design, with my more conservative shaping.

It was nice getting to work with someone else for a change.

Freeek,

Your the man! Thanks for coming to the Twin Cities to work with me. We will definitely have to try another sometime. Maybe a double, (lol) flawless execution.

Jason Lee LESSON/collaboration * Featured Page *

Jason Lee LESSON/collaboration

(E.Ross)
This piece is the result of a week long class with pipe making genius Jason Lee. I would recommend taking one of his classes to anyone serious about high-end glass. He was very open about everything he did. Besides just demonstrating, he explained the steps in great detail and in a practical manner.

I was able to contribute a few sections and a millie. Jason calls it a collab, even though I spent most of my time watching him work.

Overall, it was definitely a highlight of my glassblowing career so far. The class opened my eyes to so many new techniques, strategies, design, and ways of making the pieces more functional. Thanks so much Jason!

This lesson/collaboration would not have been possible without Freedom 35. You guys rock. THANK YOU!!

Gods from African Mythology...
ELEGUA

ELEGUA: Trickster God of Crossroads, Beginnings and Opportunity.

He's the Guardian of the Crossroads of Life. Whenever there are decisions to be made, he provides opportunities and second chances. If you're lucky. As a Trickster God, the childlike ELEGUA can sometimes make things even more complicated. At a whim he can turn a simple choice into a vast conundrum of paradox.
