(

first man made the pipes and the pipes served man but as the pipes gained more and more intellagents the pipes began to realize that they no longer needed man. the pipes began to make them selves each new version stronger and stronger and with better water filtration than ever before. the burn-a-nator 4.20 is a pipe from the future sent across time to SMOKE YOU!!
this dub-bub soldier stands 15" tall and wieghs in at 3.5 lbs and took me bout a week to make. thanks to the burlington glass seen and all the internet glass blowers for the heavey influances that pushed me to work harder and think a little more bout what i can do with this stuff.

Art evokes emotion and conveys a message.
This is the first in a series of pieces with a political or social theme.
When I first started looking at sandcarving I realized that glass is the perfect medium for Stencil Graffiti art. In my youth I visited the major cities of the US and I always saw stencil art and it often had a political theme.
When I took the class with Slinger I was mostly interested in learning the photoshop techniques. (Magnetic lasso is my friend, Thank You Slinger!)
I was also really interested in how his content was recieved, in other words did people buy it, and after the converstation I had with him on that subject I've decided to just create art that I like and that sends the message that I want to send. If someone buys it great if not I hope it makes people think.
So thats why I'm doing this series because I want to say something. Art for Arts sake...
Thanx fer looking.

E PLURIBUS UNUM
(

)
So its 2008 and the 50 state quarters program will be coming to an end this year.
I have been waiting years to do this series. I’m proud to be releasing it this week. This series is very limited, only one piece for every state. E PLURIBUS UNUM translates to "all together, one" which we will be this week in Las Vegas.

STARS AND PIPES

This piece is made up of 290 spoons. Each spoon is hand numbered so you can refer to a map and locate it in the flag ... on the front of each spoon there is an image of the flag baked on to it (that you can clearly see your spoon in).
This was a fun way to make a simple little piece part of something bigger.

War on Art
(
JasonLeeGlass
)
This piece was a response to Ashcroft's "operation pipedreams" and its dramatic effect on our culture.
The camoflauge and barb-wire chamber represents the underground nature of our scene.
The black helicopter is the "man" flying in to limit our freedoms and attempt to disrupt our peacefull way of life.
Their missiles of fascism find their way in but the explosions sparkle with dichro rather than burn.
Finally, the sword pommel stem is a reference to the Sword in the Stone of king Arthur. Which of us will rise to slay the beast and lead us to new horizons?
With all the distibutors shutting down and having no contacts to sell my work, I made this piece out of despair. I put two weeks into it and $300 into postcards of it at a time when it was hard to eat.
It sold when nothing else would for me, and it launched a rebirth in my work.
P.S. This is the only pic i have of this piece. If the owner could hook me up with nice pics, i would kick down something nice.

Chiari Malformation Awareness
(
OrganicsGlass
)
Intricate small sculptures are a lot of fun for me, and I enjoyed working on this project for Kati Jo in Montana.
Kati Jo is 18yrs old and has already endured 5 brain and spinal surgeries in the past 3 years, and is expecting more in the future. She has Chiari Malformation which can be a congenital (means you're born with it) or acquired malformation of the brain. She suffers from severe neck and back pain, and has difficulty rotating her head from side-to-side.
... told me that:
The cerebellar tonsils are elongated and pushed down through the opening of the base of the skull, blocking the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. The brainstem, cranial nerves, and the lower portion of the cerebellum may be stretched or compressed. Therefore, any of the functions controlled by these areas may be affected.
In infants, the most common symptoms are stridor and swallowing difficulties. In older children, upper (and lower as age marches on) limb weakness and breathing difficulties may occur. Patients may experience no symptoms or remain asymptomatic until early adulthood, at which point they will often experience quick onset severe headaches and neck pain. Fatigue, dizziness, vertigo, neuropathic pain, pain at the point of tethering, visual disturbances, difficulty swallowing, ringing in the ears, sleep apnea, impaired fine motor skills, muscle weakness, and palpitations and excessive clearing of the throat with no obstructions are other common symptoms.
Rese... is still being done to determine its causes. In some cases it can be hereditary, and numerous cases exist of multiple members of one family having the condition. It is common for adults to start showing noticeable symptoms when they are in the mid to late 30's. It is more common in women than in men.
Once symptomatic onset occurs, the most frequent treatment is decompression surgery, in which a neurosurgeon seeks to open the base of the skull and through various methods unrestrict CSF flow to the spine. This treatment is well recognized and accepted with many studies published (involving a total of hundreds of patients) in well respected peer reviewed medical journals showing that about 80% of patients obtain improvement.
A small number of neurological surgeons believe that detethering the spinal cord as an alternate approach relieves the compression of the brain against the skull opening (foramen magnum) obviating the need for decompression surgery and associated trauma. However, this approach is significantly less documented in the medical literature with reports on only a handfull of patients. It should be noted that the alternative spinal surgery is also not without risk.
This piece was created for decoration only and not intended for use with any illegal substance(s). Thanks for looking.
